Life without TV…?

November 6, 2007

Our TV broke last night. It’s a rear projection, and the projecting color convergence is now off and can’t be fixed through conventional means. I got to know Google well, and I even tried Sony’s lousy online tech support (chat). Why they don’t have an easy way to adjust the convergence through the menus is beyond me.

In the meantime (until we get it repaired), my wife and I are realizing we spend a lot of time with the TV. We watch TV. We watch DVDs. She plays PS3. We play Wii. All of these activities involve the TV. Life without TV is quite a change for us. Of course, I realize many people (including a few of our close friends) don’t have any TVs, and they do just fine. It’s just a little jarring when you’re used to having something, and then you don’t realize until it malfunctions just how much it’s become a part of your lifestyle.

We chose to give away our car, but we didn’t choose to have the TV suddenly crap out on us.

I don’t watch TV much except for LOST and usually don’t have time to play that many video games. LOST isn’t on for some reason, so that means I spend very little time at the TV. I would send you mine, but that would be a little expensive, and who know when LOST will show

Lost is one of those talked-about shows I’ve been meaning to get around to seeing. Heroes, too.

That sucks. I have a Sony DLP as well. The screen started to have a yellow tinge sneak up from the right side. DLPs require a lot of repairs in their lifetime than ordinary TVs do.

And, you should really get around to watching Heroes, however, buy the DVD pack of the first season first. Else, you won’t have a single clue of what is happening.

Number one priority is getting the TV functioning again. Then, Heroes may be next in line…

My stereo amp gave up last week. Same sort of feeling. No more recording music from my favourite FM programmes. :(

It’s meant more time on the computer…

Well, we just got the TV repaired today. It looks great again. Very exciting.

you never realize how much you use something until it dies on you. When my internet was out (dispute with the phone company) for about a month I kept catching myself going to the computer to use the internet only to realize I don’t have

Oh, when our internet connection went for even a few hours, my wife and I were pissed!
